Query: If this new Peanuts comic book series is successful, does
anyone else here suspect that the Powers That Be will decide that
enough time has passed to go ahead and start up the strip again with
new creators?

Or do you think maybe they'll ease it in a bit more subtly by next
putting out a "Charles Schulz' 'Peanuts'" anthology, a la DC Comics'
"Will Eisner's 'Spirit'" book that showcased other writers & artists
doing one-shot stories with the characters*, and THEN proceeding
onward to an all-new newspaper strip**.

*(There's this idiosyncratic titling system unique to comics: if a
periodical features a creator's name in big letters, it means that the
person named actually had nothing to do with the contents. [Example:
If "Pogo Possum" is written & drawn by Walt Kelly, then "Walt Kelly's
'Pogo'" is not.)

**(Obviously, if they wait TOO much longer there may not be any
newspapers left to put a new strip into!!!)

I think that will only happen over Jean Schulz's dead body.

Not answering your question directly, how good do you think the
material in these comic books is? I just bought my copy of #2
yesterday. There were one or two original lines in there that I
thought were very good. On the whole, though, the quality seemed to
be about the same as the old comic book series, which is to say
decidedly worse than the strip itself was at the time.
